The Federation of United States Teachers and Adjudicators (FUSTA) was established in 1980 to promote Scottish Highland Dancing and culture in the United States and to provide a “community” system for teachers and judges of Highland dancing. FUSTA spearheads the United States Inter-Regional Championships (USIR) held annually. The USIR rotates among the 6 geographic regions which encompass all 50 states: East, Midwest, Northwest, Southeast, Southwest, and West. This prestigious annual event represents the top dancers in each region, who have qualified to participate. The Championship weekend allows hosts three additional days of competing all dancers, primary to premier, choreography competitions, social events, and a banquet dinner honoring our FUSTA Hall of Fame inductee, FUSTA scholarship winners and the 2018 USIR Finalists.
In 2018, the East Region is proud to host the USIR Championship weekend where we hope all dancers will make history in Gettysburg, PA.
